Hi friends, in today's tutorial you'll learn how to use XpressRecovery2 function implemented on Gigabyte motherboards. Probably many of you have Gigabyte and you never knew you have a ready backup utility implemented on your motherboard.
What is XpressRecovery2?
It is a utility implemented on the motherboard with which we can backup our operating system or partitions, we can restore a backup or we can delete it. To start using XpressRecovery2 we need the DVD that came with the motherboard. This DVD having on it a mini Linux distribution (branded by Gigabyte), will give us the opportunity to boot from it and activate the use of XpressRecovery2. Why do I say "activate"? We will only need to use the DVD once to boot from it and make a backup. Once the backup is done, it will copy some files on the DVD that can be detected with the XpressRecovery2 function located on the motherboard by pressing the F9 key when starting the PC.
To use XpressRecovery2 we have to have our hard drive enough unallocated space (Unallocated Space) that it will use to create a partition format that will follow EXT2 to store backups. Recommended is the unallocated space to be larger than the entire capacity of the partition C. Even if the space allocated exceeds capacity C partition, the partition will not XpressRecovery2 EXT2 that will backup only as much as needed, and unallocated space remained after creating partition EXT2 we can use to create a new partition or not to extend another partition or to reassign partition where I got it.
