Tips for working more comfortably in front of the computer at night - video tutorial

Hello friends, in today's tutorial we will talk about the automatic adjustment of brightness and colors for any monitor. I'm sure there are many fans of the site who spend a lot of time in front of the computer at night. Well, the monitors are designed to have vivid colors and strong brightness to visualize as vividly and beautifully as possible the elements that are displayed on them. So far, so good. During the day it is sunny outside, strong light in the room as well and then to visualize very well what is displayed on the monitor display, these in turn so as not to be put in the "shadow" of daylight are made to have a strong light and colors as vivid as possible.
Basically it starts from the idea that the man working in front of a computer during the day. Is made to work day and night to rest.
If manufacturers have adjusted to adapt monitors so our needs daytime, it did the same thing and if you use the computer a lot at night.
In other words, the environment is changing, it is night outside, the light is no longer strong enough to "shade" the display, the eyes are more tired and will rest but the monitor unfortunately does not adapt itself to night mode and it stays as bright and brightly colored as the day which is not OK at all. At night the eyes are already tired, they are more prone, they become more sensitive, which means that standing in front of a very bright and brightly colored monitor at night, harms our eyes a lot.
Fortunately for those who spend nights on end in front of a computer are F.lux, a software that will automatically adjust the display brightness and colors so they will go out not to be so troublesome and harmful to eyes . F.lux running on any operating system: Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iPhone, iPad. Suffice to download executable, install F.lux to introduce our location (city) and he will know when it is night and day so that automatically adjust the color temperature and brightness of the monitor. If you use special software that you need to work with color accuracy (photo or video editing software) F.lux has the option to turn off for an hour he made adjustments to color and brightness. Also, if you are really bothered by drastic adjustments made by F.lux you have two levels of adjustment: Halogen (greatly diminishes color and brightness) or Fluorescent (down weaker color and brightness). You can always change the location if you travel often or you can choose to permanently exit the application meaning that it will undo all adjustments made to it, but they will be reinserted once you reboot F.lux
In other words, if you spend a lot of time in front of the monitor at night, the F.lux application is a "must have", an application that should not be missing from your system tray. I would like to see in the future that monitor manufacturers are also thinking about users who use the computer at night, there should be two buttons like "day mod" (in which we have set a higher level of brightness and color) and " night mode ”(in which we have a low level of brightness and colors). I am sure that many users would like to find on the market such a monitor that can be easily adapted to the needs and work environment. That being said, I invite you to watch the video tutorial to see exactly how F.lux is used and how we can set the automatic dimming of a monitor's colors and brightness at night.

This program has more to do with "sleep quality" than with protecting the eyes, that does not reduce screen brightness at all, but the emission of blue light. (As shown in the interface software)
The blue light is particularly harmful to the brain as having a wavelength less (446 - 477 nanometers) than red light leads to secretion of the hormone melatonin poorest.
This hormone is secreted by a gland between the two hemispheres of the brain and is responsible for regulating the "biological clock" of each individual. The secretion of the optimal amount of melatonin occurs at night, in the dark, but exposure to a panel that emits blue light in the evening, leads to decreased secretion => fatigue, decreased ability to concentrate and other serious conditions (occur in the medium and long term). The explanation is that light "touches" the photosensitive receptors in the retina, and the nerve impulses received by the gland stop the secretion. The program thus reduces the emission of blue light after sunset and returns it to normal at sunrise.

LED panels emit double the amount of blue light compared to CRT monitors (fluorescent light). Savers also tired body very much the same reason.
For the same reason, underwater lighting systems, underground bunkers, etc. emit red light.

I also have a 23 ′ Horizon monitor which, like yours, has a sensor but it seems more "natural" to adjust its flow. As Adrian said, this software tries to bring us "natural" lamp light.

  15. Use the program more than one year and not see the difference between night and halogen in 6400K day. I recommend you use it more than a month and then say if you like it or not. I have recommended this program to others but after a day they erased for people they do not like!

Who has not used a program to see at night in orange colors, but over a week or month will not bother.

  16. Interesting tutorial. I also suffered with the monitors. Years ago I started with 14 ″ and I kept increasing the diagonal to a year or two (17,19,22 all lcd and then 27led). After a few weeks with 27 ″ samsung led (two years ago) I started to have problems when moving from horizontal to vertical (I had a feeling of dizziness for a few seconds). No doctor found the problem. A friend when he saw the monitor said that I have problems with him. returned to 22 ″ lcd asus and the problems disappeared after a few days.
So pay attention to the size and type of monitor.

Very nice tutorials you, congratulations and thank you!
I have found that I work much easier if I make black wallpaper RGB (0,0,0). If I put a wallpaper, I noticed that my eyes run, because my attention.
I tried the example and read pdf documents that automatically make them a dark background, and that helps.
    My question is:
    1) as black forms on lcd? I knew that the CRT was a combination of RGB saturated, however, the lcd, I feel that the eyes are rested on a black background.
    2) it can find a medical opinion about what I said above? It is healthier for the eyes to have a black background?

Hello, is there a program that blocks any attempt to find you on social networking sites or some guy on a time when you need maximum concentration?

If the application is for you, the easiest way is to close all messaging clients and log out of all social services. I don't see why you need such an application when you can nicely take measures "against" yourself.
If you have such an application, I see what you given at help you install and you know how to activate and deactivate.
It's the same psychological impact when you will log out all social services alone.
Be more specific you want to do, maybe I did not understand it well enough.

  28. I know it's an app, but do not know the name, press a button and setind time, no social SITR or games not working

  29. Adrian would be grateful if you could put a link to your background with the flowers that screen.
    Thank you!

  30. Thank you very much! My eyes were really tired, and I have laptop with Windows XP and I have no options for adjusting the brightness!
