Configuring an audio and video surveillance system, part 1, installation and setting of the IP camera - video tutorial

Hi friends, in this video tutorial will begin a series of tutorials that will show you the steps you need to follow for setting up a video surveillance system audio.
This tutorial is the first in this series and is dedicated room or IP cameras, you will learn to configure the camera and I'll explain all settings.
The great advantage of a surveillance system based on IP cameras is the scalability and flexibility we create a surveillance system from multiple cameras at different locations, these cameras can monitor them from one place, can also store records of all rooms ln one location or multiple locations, even if they are located tens of kilometers apart.
Example:
We set up a surveillance system that is composed of 10 IP cameras, two in Constanta, Brasov and three to five rooms in Paris. All these rooms we can supervise in Bucharest and records can be stored in Iasi, cool huh?
The camera presented in the tutorial is a TP-Link TL-SC3430, this camera is very good but it is only for the interior, if we want a camera for the exterior we have to go to another model. TL-SC3430 has a very good sensor, it has high sensitivity to light and a maximum resolution of 1280 × 800, which means 1,3 megapixels, while most cameras have a resolution of 640 × 480 ie 0,3 megapixels. An interesting feature is the 3GPP support for mobile phones, so we can watch the camera live on the mobile phone via 3G network, I tried and it works without problems even on EDGE (Orange, Cosmonte).
The setting of the IP camera must be done in parallel with the setting of the router, it needs small "treatments" for this surveillance camera to work flawlessly (port forwarding, DDNS where appropriate, UPnP activation).
System configuration starts with setting the IP camera but does not end with this, will follow the system configuration that will store records, that we will see how to do a tutorial future, that if you made a request that the comments box, e much to talk about storage and I need your patience for that.
Careful:
The tutorial takes about an hour, empower yourself with patience and you will be rewarded with information.

The camera was purchased from Pc GarageIf only to buy this camera you can use this coupon code:

88NX2AZW

And find Emag surveillance camerasUnfortunately this model is not in demand at emag find other cameras that I can not say anything because I have not tried.

  14. Cristi nice tutorial, I just have some objections to the rooms as a former officer in the field. First I am not a professional solution and compared with a camera connected directly to a DVR have limitations on image quality and their specialization in different environments. DVR solution is used in pro shops, warehouses, hypermarkets etc.
For Internet connections, DVR has ethernet port, with a menu where you can connect to the Internet, either directly or through a router. Advantages compared to those which emit directly relates to storage capacity, scalability, codec h264 use, plus the use of ActiveX-based interfaces for viewing video stream. A tutorial succeeded, and for those who need a home surveillance system easy to install, maintain, but without resorting to specialized staff, it's ideal.

This stuff there before. Speed-dome cameras talk, servo motors, with elements in motion that binds to a DVR or capture card installed on a computer system. What I've shown here, Cristi is a much easier thing and very easy to set compared to a room Skip to content Home, which sets a dedicated keyboard with laptop and specialized software, etc.
However, I remain and I think that old-school classic DVR solution is the healthiest. What we adopted in exchange for their installation is UTP cable with transceivers at both ends and the ability to power the camera directly via UTP cable on the wire pair blue-white / blue, if my memory serves me, because it supports up to 12 volts and 10 amps. The same pair of wires is used by companies like RDS, Nextgen, to carry phone signals without the need to stop shooting a dedicated infrastructure for telephone service.

"As a former worker in the field" that you should have known that a scalable system gives IP cameras and analog is not linked to a DVR! Scalable - "in telecommunications and software engineering - the ability of a system or a process network to support a high volume load mmai or allow increase or expansion." (Wikipedia: http://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalabilitate)

On the other hand, IP cameras are more peform in video transmission quality than analog, you're talking about video recording of IP cameras have the advantage that they can be made elsewhere DEAC in the room / s, so No risk of thefts and / or compromising video.

There is a program for managing multiple rooms and vizulizarea all these rooms in the same time (or WEB cameras to be IP)?

Can not wait to show us how to make and record with this type of camera. If we make a system such rooms and each room is set separately on the recording we can put grub, each with directories and files them?

Bound we can put the alarm when motion detected in an area to produce a sound (preferably all rooms in the system) and to call the police?

    Very nice

And yes, as I said, I'm old-school and prefer analog surveillance systems. The problem is given by the ratio performance / cost, which always has the last word. IP cameras that cost a lot compared to the analog still have connected to a server or a computer system to record local or internet connection plus a solution of routing data packets that are transmitted on the NVR. Appear hardware acquisition costs, which according to the number of rooms must have a computing power and storage space as, problems related to licensing server operating system, and from what I know most of the good run on Windows products appear with other software licensing costs allowing better use of the system which connects via a switch rooms, etc..
I'm not saying your ip is not good or that they are inferior to performance, but the price is much higher and the technology seems far from being mature. When installing a surveillance system, DVR put it in a safe place where only authorized individuals have access to manage and use the system.
The discussion remains open on analog vs. IP cameras, in terms of costs, performance for, and the solution preferred by installers. In the future I'm sure I adopt and IP technology that's natural pace and direction technology goes, I mentioned to you, but right now, I personally do not find mature technology. Progress has been made and the case DVRs by adopting codec h264 plus many others that I'm sure you know, and I do not expose them here.
It remains open for everyone to choose the best solution for him, are free talks about analog vs. IP. Now what are the costs and say the word, and analogue won the battle for now.
    I wish you good day.

From the start, when we talk about IP cameras alone significantly increased quality, and therefore an initial amount higher than analog cameras, but:

      - only 1% buy DVRs with more ports than the required number of cameras, and when they do, in 99% of cases it proves to be an inefficient choice, as the difference in ports will not be used in full and thus, there is money allocate in vain on a DVR more expensive than the real needs;
      - let me "spread" the feeling that a server - for IP cameras - are necessarily servers on a PC, necessarily a version of Windows, whose license, indeed, costs! In fact, most locations monitored with IP cameras are based on NVRs, as a server, which run only simplified Linux distributions, with related applications, in JAVA! OS costs ?! ZERO!
      - The H.264 codec (also known as MPEG-4 AVC) EXISTED for a long time on IP cameras, logically long before it existed on DVRs intended for analog cameras.

What we have actually done just now is that, in addition to all the above, the installation of IP cameras for any GREENHORN IS NOT that catch-2 3 bolts several analog cameras, shoot some CATV cable to the DVR and This complete assembly of a video surveillance system! Things got - far-more complicated, obviously longer if anyone handy, involving a skill and / or knowledge muuuulti more advanced in many ways! This is really great reluctance IP cameras, analog cameras versus!
The rest is just a matter of inadequacy!

  24. It would be interesting to do a series of tutorials and surveillance systems on stand-alone DVR with Internet, which have certain advantages over systems with IP cameras.

Just because you talked about cost, often people choose cheaper solution, but choose to connect to the internet. And when you choose to do an internet connection, believe me it does not any greenhorn.
Talking about scalability, that all you say. I said to more ports than necessary because you do not know with time if the owner wants to modify, add, etc.. Since I gave up this field, I jumped in the boat so-called "tech support", although I have nothing to do with it and yes I started learning in all areas by a bit, not any super-specialized Seek triviality implies a kill and service reactivation.
Flirting with the area, we took the inevitable contact with the IP cameras and not impressed me yet. Maladjustment not sure, reluctance to such solutions probably yes, and that is why I prefer old technology and tested, stable, ie analolic + Camera + DVR with ethernet connection to the internet, the cameras IP. Again I say, it's up to your choice of preferences.
And qualification not, trust me. Who is able to install a router to put a password on wi-fi and make a smooth portfoward install an IP camera with all its needs and options.
You should not be guru with CNAP to put it. Installing and IP and analog capabilities we've tested and I saw pluses and minuses. Question for fourth grade: you do when the man would not buy DVR or NVR and has a PC wants to put the cameras used at? I put Ubuntu Server + ZoneReminder? Or you put softu capture card on a system with Windows, which I enable remote control, you Pitesti in a cellar and you learn to connect to another PC on the network? Just asking. Do not forget the flexibility and solutions are many. Combined solutions, find new ones based on existing and not get stuck. Success. This is the last comment about the field. Everybody uses it advantageous solution and others closest to the needs of money out of pocket.

@ Alex, not arguing, just discussing. Of such stuff were born free ideas. French 300 years of history before us, based on polemics and look where Sund. Who has personally than he has to do something with his lips.

Only those tablets that support Win 7 or wait until the future Win 8! There is no Internet Explorer developed for any other operating system yet! Shameful, for M $, but that's the truth!

And I am actually an ip camera manufacturer 2 different at the first I ran after her that it was not and I found it is a Compro IP70 with all Wi-Fi, SD card, 1,3mp, integrated speaker , microphone, what room ok and IR LED night with a relay is silent, silent light switches off. What about her Compro IP70 good? and the other is a lousy VGA GRANDTEC ip camera all the IRx6 who sees only gray

I think TP is less than the tutorial link that has a sensor 1 / 3 from 1 / 4 TP-Link has IR LEDs and speaker and has incorporat.La what price did you get it? Now I seen on the net it would be cca.600 lei.Important seen is whether good or donTt would interest me too this product and would like to tell me how it goes.

how to set all this, where do I start?

  40. HELLO, I had got a request TO DINE If you can help me. Bought a camera with IP (LYMA-TYPE: IP-562M) EXTEL, AM install from the installation disc and it works but ONLY AN INTERNAL AND AS wish I could see from the outside with mobile phone or a computer and do not know how to proceed. I have more than a week since AN NETWORK ANCERC to launch but fail, if you could help me with something I would be very grateful (so called EXTEL room LYMA TYPE: 562M IP and modem-router is called NETGEAR Wireles ADSL + MODEM ROUTER N300 DGN2200v3) wait your answer. thank f more

  41. Xantes: As a general rule:
ANY diposzitiv TCP / IP - in this case the IP camera - can be set-ata and without a router, if you use a cross-over cable so that one end of the cable inserts into the hole Ethernet IP camera and other in network card to a computer, then set your computer's IP-Yorkers with another IP than the room. Then, enter the IP address of the camera in an Internet browser and - VOILA - so you can enter it in the menu configuration IP camera!
A camera so set-floss - via a cross-over cable - can be connected directly to the Ethernet cable - one example: the Internet from RDS - but with the stipulation that you will not be able to sign anything at that subscription Internet if you have not or do not want to use a router.

Xantes, you are unaware of, do not need cross over cable unless you want to connect the IP camera directly to your computer's LAN port. If you insert the cable from the RDS / UPC / Provider not need cross-over!

I didn't say the same thing… that only in the case of connecting to the network card on the computer, in order to set the area ?! Dehh, if he takes your hand in advance and writes without thinking and reading carefully ?!

And if that link the camera directly to the computer / laptop do not need a crossover. A cable pin connections normally be sufficient. The only concern is to make sure that you are in class aceiaisi ip camera.

  44. hello… .I am very deep in things like surveillance but I called someone to install an internal surveillance camera and he brought me a camera with a small light bulb at the bottom and the eye of the camera surrounded by LEDs. a single cable comes out of this camera, which it connects to the clicknet modem. he / she told me that this camera works even if no light bulb is on and that now I have to call someone to make an appointment or something. QUESTION… .HOW DID HE ASSEMBLE HIM, CONNECTED TO THE MODEM, WITHOUT A LIGHT ON THE CAMERA?

  48. Hello! We have at work, in a store, 3 surveillance cameras connected by IP. The problem is as follows: if I install a viewing / recording program on the PC, the recording files take up a lot of space on the hdd (in one week it took up 120 GB of space. We installed a Smart TV in the store, such as could only the images appear on this Smart TV, not record the cameras, only to see that customers are "monitored"? The image on the desktop PC can not send it on smart TV, because I make another invoice, I send another email and I wouldn't want that image to appear on TV.

I'm dumb in this area and I would like if you can help me with some advice how to set up the cameras. Again, I do not care to record only images appear on the monitor room / TV.

    Thank you
