The typing after dictation feature in Windows 11

What is this tutorial about?

In this tutorial titled the typing function after dictation in Windows 11, I present to you a module in Windows 11, with which we can dictate any kind of text in Romanian with diacritics to our PC, without using the keyboard.

Dictation works in any text input application

If in the past applications like Word Powerpoint, some Adobe applications and others, worked with their own dictation modules, in our case, dictation module on windows 11 works in all applications where text can be entered.

The Romanian language is very well recognized.

In the past, text recognition in Romanian was quite flawed.
This time the Romanian language is recognized perfectly, with diacritics, and the words are recognized very well.

The dictation speed is very good.

Of course, depending on the processor you have on your PC, words are recognized very quickly, the typing speed being similar to the typing speed of an experienced user.

I tested on TV dictation

Out of curiosity, I left the microphone next to the TV to see if it would recognize text from a TV news show well.
To my surprise, what was being said on TV appeared entirely in the text with very few mistakes.

Dictation on Windows 11 also has automatic punctuation

For those who are not used to using punctuation, there is also the automatic punctuation option.
However, this automatic punctuation option doesn't work as well as I would like, and it gets a little frustrating at times.
Maybe I didn't dictate well, maybe I didn't leave the spaces correctly, maybe this dictation module needs time to mature. In any case, I gave up on the automatic punctuation option and when I need to put punctuation, I simply say,.?! And so on.

And to move to a new paragraph, you say “new paragraph”.

Unfortunately, more complex punctuation marks such as quotation marks, parentheses, and so on are not recognized.

The dictation demonstration is the very text of this tutorial

As proof that the dictation module in Windows 11 works very well, this text was 99% written using dictation. My intervention was minimal, for certain words that were not recognized well. But maybe I did not dictate well, maybe I did not pronounce well. All in all, I am satisfied with the results I obtained with this dictation module on Windows 11. I only needed to correct some words, in the sense that I put capital letters where needed, and I also intervened in the case of some words that I probably did not pronounce well.

Comments

  1. Hello Cristi, I have Windows 11 and the Windows + H command doesn't work for me. What can I do to make it work? Can you make a video?

  2. If you are using O&O ShutUp10++, this feature may be disabled and as a result you need to change the settings in O&O ShutUp10++.

  3. This dictation option is very useful.
I noticed that if there are multiple languages set for the keyboard, in my case two, the computer writes in the language in which the keyboard is active at that moment, even if at that moment in the settings the language is not at the top (as emphasized in the tutorial).
