At the end of April 2025, a new advanced privacy setting was introduced in the WhatsApp application.
In this tutorial, I show you how to enable advanced privacy and what this setting actually does.
What is advanced privacy, the new setting in Whatsapp?
Advanced Privacy wants to bring new options to Whatsapp designed to keep the conversation in the application window and reduce data leaks outside the message window or group.
Once enabled in conversations or groups, this new advanced privacy setting in Whatsapp does three things:
- Disable saving media files in the gallery
- Stop AI features from accessing messages
- Turn off the ability to export conversations
What else would be needed for the advanced privacy setting in Whatsapp to be complete?
If they did have an advanced privacy setting, they should have also included a screenshot lock. That would have made the conversation safer.
