good tutorial. I also have a question ... since I got a new VGA cable I have problems with the resolution .... it's not clear how it looks and it's too big or too small .... can you make a tutorial about this problem ..I'm sure many have it ..;)
Are you sure you don't need a DVI cable? I also had the monitor "tied" with a vga cable (1440x900) it looked ok, but you could see some fleas. I replaced the vga cable with a dvi one and when I turned on the computer, the screen went 2 times better (it had clear images ...). If you don't have a dvi slot, try another vga cable. Some are manufacturing defects.

there are adapters, some very good ceramic (with gold pins) makes the muva VGA-DVI ..... and so we are no longer in kindergarten, we moved to the 1st grade ... app adapters are on the market better 5 years, specially released for cases when LED monitors had only DVI input and the motherboards (video on board) did not want DVI output ... for a while with most video cards in the box you also had a VGA-DVI adapter, especially at the highest quality! now I heard that they are DVI-HDMI adapters ...... and so on ...

There is no rule, the resolution you set it as you think you can see better. If you give more than that to get rid of black edges, can large icons and so you got rid of the problem (not you tell us what operating system you use)
To change the size of icons quickly, give a left mouse click on the desktop to a free port where there is no file or icon, then hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and move the mouse wheel up to increase icons or down to decrease it. If you choose a lower resolution and black edges encounter when you adjust the image (you can banish both laterally and vertically) of the existing buttons on the monitor. You btoane some adjustment and modification of the image, color and so on.

I did exactly like you on an MSI WIND and after restarting at screen resolution I only have 1152x864 (Recommended) and 1024x768, disappearing 1024x600.
