How to run MetroUI applications on netbooks with resolutions lower than 1024 on 768 - video tutorial

Hi friends, in today's tutorial we will see how we can run Metro applications on netbooks do not support a resolution 1024 x 768. As you probably already know, the Metro interface and its applications to run properly, you must have a minimum resolution of the 1024 768 according to Microsoft.
Certainly there are many users who have home (just) a little of 10 inch netbook whose native resolution is high and 1024 x 600. That means we will be able to install Windows on these devices 8 but we could not enjoy the interface and Metro applications. It's frustrating to happen and not understand why this interface remains active if users with lower resolutions 1024 x 768 can not use.
However there is a solution for them. We can fool Windows 8, we can make believe that we have a resolution 1024 x 768 (although our native resolution has all 1024 600 x) by a single change to a registry key.
So if you have installed Windows 8 on a device with a resolution of 1024 x 600 when you want to launch Metro applications first message: This app can not open The screen resolution is too low for this app to run, this is happening for the minimum resolution for Metro interface is running 1024 x 768.
That said, I invite you to watch the video tutorial to see exactly how we can enjoy the Metro interface on Windows 8 netbooks with resolutions lower 1024 x 768.

  • good tutorial. I also have a question ... since I got a new VGA cable I have problems with the resolution .... it's not clear how it looks and it's too big or too small .... can you make a tutorial about this problem ..I'm sure many have it ..;)

    • Are you sure you don't need a DVI cable? I also had the monitor "tied" with a vga cable (1440x900) it looked ok, but you could see some fleas. I replaced the vga cable with a dvi one and when I turned on the computer, the screen went 2 times better (it had clear images ...). If you don't have a dvi slot, try another vga cable. Some are manufacturing defects.

  • ms of advice here but I do not seem to a kid in kindergarten who does not know what is and what is dvi.It vga realize you say how to put the jack vga dvi cable?? My card base is equipped with only a connector for VGA only! got a LG FLATRON monitor W1934S

    • there are adapters, some very good ceramic (with gold pins) makes the muva VGA-DVI ..... and so we are no longer in kindergarten, we moved to the 1st grade ... app adapters are on the market better 5 years, specially released for cases when LED monitors had only DVI input and the motherboards (video on board) did not want DVI output ... for a while with most video cards in the box you also had a VGA-DVI adapter, especially at the highest quality! now I heard that they are DVI-HDMI adapters ...... and so on ...
One of the reasons for the lack of information ..unfortunately ... the crisis and the big stores eliminated from the market the small PC stores .. where you could be informed, you could make an exchange, an upgrade of the motherboard etc.

  • Very good tutorial and very useful. There are some software that require a minimum resolution of 1024x768 otherwise they cannot be installed or if they are installed we cannot open them without this resolution, and with this trick we can fool the system. Bravo Adrian I like how you fool win 8 but on win xp we can l pacalim? or xp is older and is not fooled. And please Adrian, tell me what resolution we have to have for 15 "monitors and what resolution for 17" and if it matters depending on the type of LCD monitor or the old one with a tube? or it depends on the graphics card, because I don't know, if I give it a bigger one, the smaller icons can be seen, if it is at 800x600, a black stripe appears on the edge of the screen (for those with a tube) and I don't know how it is normal. Thanks

There is no rule, the resolution you set it as you think you can see better. If you give more than that to get rid of black edges, can large icons and so you got rid of the problem (not you tell us what operating system you use)
To change the size of icons quickly, give a left mouse click on the desktop to a free port where there is no file or icon, then hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and move the mouse wheel up to increase icons or down to decrease it. (As long as you give the scroll wheel, hold down the Ctrl key) This trick works on all operating systems
If you choose a lower resolution and black edges encounter when you adjust the image (you can banish both laterally and vertically) of the existing buttons on the monitor. You btoane some adjustment and modification of the image, color and so on.

  • May tutorial.bravo.la multe.pt salut.frumos Adrian tries to put another cable and see not too long about the 1,5 m.din what I hear if you loss the longer you do not already semnal.sanatate.daca I know another option

  • I did exactly like you and he says he can't find anything, I searched and manually I looked at the location and it wasn't I don't have that 0001

    • I did exactly like you on an MSI WIND and after restarting at screen resolution I only have 1152x864 (Recommended) and 1024x768, disappearing 1024x600.

Thanks for the reply but merge.Am Adrian did exactly as you said, I left clicked on the desktop in a portion where there is nothing holding down the Ctrl key and rotate wheel mousu's and in one direction and the other, not nimic.Nu know what happens. I use Win XP sp3

  • Hey, I did that, but when I block access icons. Screen remains black. It's strange that I have an Asus EeePC and is not optimized for this w8 given that he appeared in this year 2012 (laptop)

  • Hello
Unfortunately later I saw this tutorial and am interested, but can no longer access the video to see how to make settings (changing a registry key).
If you can send me a link to the email address that contains the clip, which you can open it, it would be helpful.
