Usually Laptops manufacturers tend to install additional software for the automatic backp operating system, then the backup will be saved to a partition that has a format other than NTFS or FAT. This format and partition with another Windows NTFS partition fails to recognize than type, FAT32 FAT16 and will not be visible in Disk Management in Windows. I have a question what is the difference between a primary partition, extended partition, logical partition??
Primary partition is bootable partition. There puts Windows boot files.
The extended partition is where you can create logical partitions (logical partitions). On a disk there can be only one extended partition.
Adrian did not give him permission to create logical partitions (using Gparted) not originally created as an extended partition. I had to create an extended partition and then create and logical partitions within the extended partition. Other partitioning software automatically creates an extended partition when you choose to create logical partitions. But not Gparted. You must manually create the extended partition and then just create logical partitions.

Using extended or logical partition is not required or not necessary. If you look better in Windows 7 and we want to install a new hard drive, unpartitioned it makes all primary partitions automatically and they are in the operating system and the data that will be saved.
