- we can activate or deactivate the web cam and the microphone at any time during the conversation without interrupting the conversation
- during the video and audio conversation we can also use the text chat
- we can invite chat participants to watch a YouTube video with you. They will see in real time exactly what the person who started playing a YouTube video is seeing. This means that if the person who invites you to watch the video will scroll the clip, the participants will see the clip exactly from the minute it unfolded, they all see the same sequence at the same time.
- if you choose to use Hangout Extra, you will have all the options mentioned above plus the ability to share (show) the participants' desktop, either the entire desktop or just a portion or a window of it.
- you can work on the same document from google docs all at the same time, it will be displayed in real time what text each participant adds to this document.
- you can draw a sketch in which those you talk to can participate in real time, they can add elements to the drawing and you will see them in real time
- for both Hangout Extra and Simple Hangout, if you no longer enjoy listening to one of the participants, you can mute it (just for you, the others will still hear it)
Video and Audio Quality:
Both services have about the same audio quality video, I encountered no problem in this respect, nor with Google Plus Hangout, nor with Facebook Video Call.
Options that I would have liked to have them in both services:
- a log for the chat made, how many participated in the hangout, at what time, how long the hangout lasted
- the possibility to make a small transfer of files, documents, pictures, music
- the possibility to block a hangout participant, this should be possible at least, only for the one who initialized the hangout
- a slider for adjusting the volume of sound independent of that of the operating system would have been very useful, to have an effect only on the sound in the Hangout.
