How to share between the actual operating system and the virtual in VirtualBox - video tutorial

For that lately more and more visitors have asked for a tutorial on how to do shared between the real system and that of VirtualBox I decided to do a tutorial on this topic.

What is VirtualBox?
VirtualBox is a virtualization software with which we can run an operating system in another operating system (in the real one). Those who do not yet know what Virtual Box is, we have several tutorials both on installing and setting it up and on how to install an operating system in Virtual Box made by our colleague Cristi. Some links to tutorials about VirtualBox can be found at the end of this text.

Share and what that means for you?

Well, I'm sure we all have some less legal software, or simply want to do some software testing installing but without affecting the real system. Redescarci sometimes what you want to test the software again or search virtual you want to try it can be a waste of time and can take too much, so fast alternative to transfer the software or files that we want to test, the real pc at Virtual Box is to make shared between Host system (real system) and system Guest (guest system in Virtual Box)

What you need to know before making the 2 share between systems?
It should be noted that by sharing a folder between the 2 systems, you open some connections between the 2 operating systems (the real one and the virtual one) and this is not very welcome. Why? Because, if the virtual system gets infected, there is a great possibility that the virus will reach the folder shared between the 2 systems and eventually it will reach our real PC. One tip to prevent this "misfortune" is: when sharing the folder to check the "Read only" box, meaning that the virtual system can only read or copy from that folder and not write or delete files from that folder.
What you need to know is that in order to share a folder between the 2 operating systems you need to install in the virtual system "Guest Additions" (a small ISO image that contains drivers for the virtual system)
I hope that can not be said that the 2 Share-ui between operating systems everything: movies, music, games, documents etc etc.
I'm in the tutorial below I used the Windows XP operating system real and virtual system that all the virtual Windows XP but if I had Vista or Windows 7 ui procedure to share a folder it was the same.
Remember, if you have suggestions, complaints or additions do not hesitate to write in the comments box, de-also if you met the comments box a user has a problem and you can help him, do not hesitate to do it, the only way we can do this place better, see the comments box!
Enjoy !

Nope ... it's not over and it's not going to end, I'm going to start "pumping" tutorials about Linux, especially Ubuntu from now on

Nop ... or not done, nor will it end, I began to "pump" especially Ubuntu Linux tutorials from now

Adrian, following your comments, and tutorials on the site, made me curious about Ubuntu. Guess what I did today? I installed Ubuntu on the laptop, only Ubuntu as the base system without Windows or what I do. And I'm very pleased, and runs faster than Windows.

Honestly I'm really glad that I manage to arouse curiosity and that people are slowly starting to open their minds to something other than windosis (that's what I've been telling windows since I became a convinced linuxist) I put Ubuntu Desktop Edition on a Asus EEEPC 100 or 1000XP I don't know the exact series anymore and I was left PANDA (that's my word ... when something surprises me) when I saw that out of the box it recognized ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING: wireless, bluetooth ...

As an idea, you can take a look here: http://kde.org/announcements/4.4/
are also some videos, I hope you appreciate Linux and KDE.

    • Vladut: I have a question ... I have to do house work on virtualbox Thanks netul

Install Guest Additions as shown in the tutorial, privestel all the way!

  • I use Vmware workstation, but as far as I can see even with this program you can't install mac os. (or at least I didn't see it ...)
As for the sher between the real and the virtual system, in VMware there is a much smarter function - copy paste directly between the real and the virtual system (as if you were copying on any other partition).

    • Vali Hi, me too Tell me how to do this copier system in the virtual real
      Thank you

      • Precisely this was shown in this tutorial. If you want to copy files to copy / paste, you will need to install Guest Additions (if you use VirtualBox) or WMware Tools (if you use WMware Player) in the operating system of the virtual machine, as mentioned and shown in tutorialuul video front.
Once fulfilled the condition (Install Guest Additions or VMware Tools into the operating system of the virtual machine), simply right click on any file / folder from the actual operating system then you go in the virtual and you paste the desktop or any folder the operating system installed on the virtual machine

  • Too compliact, I do my one image that I need through programs UltraISO, then mounted in the virtual system and there are so much to seruiesc so.

It's not complicated at all !!! You only set that folder once !!! As long as you know how to make that ISO image and compress the archive into ISO (the ISO format is a way of compressing an archive) you share 30 folders, but there is no need. It's enough to share a single folder and when you need to ... move movies, software, or files to it ... or copy them to it and that's it.

  • Adrian saw that you had installed BitDefenter Do not make anyone a tutorial about him? What do you think about him? I want an answer and I get the rig crane crystals or if Boby Michael! Please Moreover, as I have never tried it!
