How to install windows xp from a bootable usb stick - HD video tutorial

In this video tutorial to see how you can put a kit Windows XP (CD installation) on a stick USK to install on those small laptops based on Intel atom that does not have a DVD drive for reasons of space (asus Eee PC, acer one, mSI Wind).

This work is done using three different components, each has its role and together we will help you install Windows on stick on any computer, even those that have a CD or DVD.

These three applications are as follows:

1. USB_PREP8

2. PeToUSB 3.0.0.7

3. Bootsect.zip

You can take the bottom of the text press DOWNLOAD.

On long you longer need a Windows XP installation kit (cd with xp), whether it is on CD or as a virtual image (iso, FIU, yeah, etc.) is the same.

The last thing that you need is a USB stick (USB flash) preferably have a minimum of 1 giga, USB sticks are pretty cheap and does not believe a cost much 1 giga.

First it must estras usb_prep8 archive folder with the same name in C: drive, then you must extract the contents of the two archives that remained (petousb_3.0.0.7 and bootsect.zip) in just usb_prep8 folder we extracted earlier now usb_prep8.cmd launch usb_prep8 dim folder, if you do not have enough rights to launch it with administrator rights (run as administrator), then it says window to press any key to continue, to find a stick that had to be entered into a multi usb port, now press start and then a few windows appear with which you must agree.

Now we will start using command line, we do this from: start / run / write "cmd" and press enter or ok.

In this demonstration we will use two commands in the command line (start / run / cmd), the commands are as follows:

1. “cd c: usb_prep8” this to enter the command line in the usb_prep8 folder on partition c:

2. “bootsect.exe / nt52 h: (h: is the letter of the usb stick that you may have another letter, so put instead of h: the letter you have on usb that is f: or g: or h: or l: etc.

After executing these commands you have to close all the windows except the one with the command line that opened at the beginning when you had to launch usb_prep8.cmd, after which we will notice that the content of this window changes, here we have different options but what we are interested in point 1> where we will introduce the source that contains the windows xp kit, ie the letter of the drive that contains the windows CD, we are also interested in point 3> where we indicate the path to the stick and point 4 > where do we start the copying process, in principle from now on it will be just a routine until the end, we have to agree with all the windows and not remove the stick until the single window disappears from the screen.

After a few minutes you will stick with xp on it ready for installation, insert it in the computer that you want to install, set the BIOS to be the USB stick as a device booting mainly when the turn will be two options: 1 2 gui mode and text mode, you must choose the text mode for a normal installation.

I want to thank those of CHIP magazine and especially IONUT BALAN that gave me the inspiration to create this tutorial, I hope not to offend us because we have learned something of his article to will give to you in finally this content as a video tutorial.

  • @Ruben: @tataee:
Besides my little effort must thank IONUT BALANCE from the CHIP magazine's article, that article there is no tutorial in this simple form.
Ways to put the stick in operating system are many but this is very simple.
Respect the work of others and that is why I can not get all the appreciation I alone in this tutorial I was just a storyteller, research work did Ionut Balan magazine chip that did not know him but who also thank I hope not believe that I stole article in any way.
When they are original are original, but now we just took over and I translated everything into a video tutorial.

    • Cristi I have a problem after I make a bootable usb, stick to install and after reboot copy everything and takes, and takes over again and copy etc., can you tell me what to do?

    • Hi I have a question I want to know how to use the remaining space on a USB image made of several operating systems to have there enentiale after installation kits for windows.
      Thank you in advance.

  • Much the tutorial very good and useful: D Anyone know a gates that can save the photos on sites that have flesh?

  • Very hard tutorial my congratulations cristi but also ionut balan. At my next installation of windows paote I will try something like that :).

  • I have a claim that his raoga I always install Windows and has a laptop but unfortunately has accer dvd drive :)). But on a desktop that has the DVD drive can be installed like a Windows XP?

  • @danezu: You just proved that you didn't look at the whole tutorial and that you weren't careful or that you didn't even read the text above the tutorial !!!! Because it was specified that it works on any system, whether it's a desktop (pc) or a laptop, it doesn't matter, whether it has an optical drive or not, it doesn't matter either ... "thank you" for your "attention" ... that's your respect. ..how can you ask something when it has been specified twice in the tutorial and in the text above the tutorial? how do you feel about the tutorial if you haven't even followed it head on? how can you say it's really loud when you don't know what it's all about? That's your respect ... nice of you or rather yours!
