VMware consume fewer system resources and even if it has many Options like virtual box, at least is essential. Personally, to me going much better operating system in VMware and not because I have a computer weak. At least you can transfer something wmware virtual system via drag and drop the virtual desktop.
Can you tell me what you pc?, And how many resources you have given virtual machine?
VM Ware is a parser program, the developers and freelancers make separate programs that run in VM Ware because they also have a piece of shit .... Strange thing ... it didn't happen to me. Try downloading another windows 7. If the problem persists, then enter the virtual machine settings and remove the virtual hard disk. Then create another one, but create an IDE hard drive, not SCSI.
I tried with windows 7 ultimate and enterprise (from microsoft and I have it on the real system) ... the thing with the HDD I can't change from SCSI to IDE

Try deleting the virtual machine and creating another one from scratch. It is not recommended to change the type of virtual machine along the way. For example, you first create the virtual machine as windows xp, and then change it to windows 7. That's what I did once and it didn't recognize my network card in windows 7 ... I had to open the .vmx configuration file using notepad and add some stuff over there. Just after that, the windows 7 operating system recognized the network card and installed the necessary drivers.

Normally Windows can not be installed on external hard drives or flash sticks. But there is a process but it's very thorough and complicated. Time consuming and really not worth it. I would have helped dearly but unfortunately do not have an external hard drive.
