Installation and presentation of Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, in dual boot with Windows - video tutorial

Hi friends, in today's tutorial we will see what is new in vesiunea 11.04 Ubuntu Natty Narwhal and I go through the installation steps. Who does not know yet, Ubuntu is an open source operating system offered free PC users. Recently it has come to a new version called Natty Narwhal 11.04. It comes with a new interface called Unity, an intuitive interface designed to facilitate the PC work very well optimized and ready for devices that support touch. A disadvantage of the Unity interface is that it will only run on a more capable hardware, with a decent video card. Since the Ubuntu operating system comes integrated with some drivers in the kernel, some will enjoy Unity interface system immediately after installation without the need to install drivers or special settings but depending on which video card you have performance and that it has, it is possible that Unity interface can not be used until you install video drivers. If you have trouble using Unity interface or simply if you do not like it, you can give the log off or restart and login you can choose the display panel located at the Ubuntu Classic interface will allow you to use Gnome interface used in Ubuntu 10.10.
For more details on the Unity interface hardware requirements, please visit this link:

Unity is a major change coming with Natty Narwhal 11.04 but besides this coming new interface and other small enhancements such as:
- drag and drop to add new applications in Launcher (dock)
- the possibility to rearrange the order of the icons in Launcher
- fast navigation with the keyboard using keyboard shortcuts
- support for right click and context menu in Launcher
- Ubuntu One Control Panel allows selective synchronization and the ability to view the download progress displayed in the Launcher icon.
- The speed with which files are synchronized in Ubuntu One has been improved
- Ubuntu Software Center now allows users to vote for their favorite applications or add a small review for them
- using a new scroll bar called Ayatana Scrollbar for applications and windows meant to save the space used by the old scroll bar
- Ubuntu 11.04 comes with the latest version of firefox 4, LibreOffice a replacement for OpenOffice (office suite) version 3.3.2 and Banshee 2.0 an audio player with integration in the sound menu (sound menu) that will replace Rhythmbox
- new Wallpapers, X.org 1.10.0 and Table 7.10.1.
- visual effects for running and minimized applications in Launcher, as well as new effects when opening and minimizing applications and windows.
- smart hiding of the Launcher when maximizing a window (when switching to full screen mode)
In conclusion, Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 is an operating system that comes pre-installed with everything you need. The suite of office applications, instant messaging client, mail client and calendar, torrent client, video player, audio, video editor, photo manager, software for viewing PDF files, software for voice recording, visual effects, web browser, client social networks such as facebook, twitter, identi.ca, software for file synchronization and backup their limit of 2G potentially increasing storage space plus the ability to install free software anytime. • I'm thinking of trying Ubuntu too, I read about it I saw tutorials I don't know what to say at first sight (maybe it's my impression) it seems hard, but if others do it I don't think I wouldn't cope :)) anyway I think and I am convinced that in the future it is the only alternative

  • see how many eventually managed to do tutorial ubuntu 11.04. If you want you can just voienta is sometimes. You do not say you can not do tutorial x Like if you want to find a way eventually. congratulations and thank you

  • Very detailed tutorial! Congratulations!

My opinion is that Ubuntu is trying to get as close as possible to its paid alternative, Windows 7 and that's why it introduced "Unity", thus preparing the system for Touchscreen.

My guess is that Ubuntu courting how much was paid alternative, Windows 7 and therefore introduced the "Unity", thus preparing the system for Touchscreen.

      =)) Iauzi to this

  • My opinion is that slowly Ubuntu will become more and more "user friendly". I'm very happy about this, because it's not always easy for me to work from the terminal, even if it often simplifies things a lot.
How soon can I install myself in dual-boot Ubuntu.
However I have a question about the installation. When partitioning is required, there are three options: Dual-boot Windows and Replace Something else. And to dual-boot I noticed that it is necessary to partition the space into two partitions (Windows and Ubuntu).
If you want to take a little of both existing partitions (C and D) and make a special one for Ubuntu will appear three frames? C (Windows), D (Windows) and Ubuntu?
I'm thinking it's possible to keep paritiţia C (which I Windows) and try to put the D Ubuntu. I'd like to keep C and D, and Ubuntu to be on another partition.
However, I have the impression that I will have to work from the "Something else" option if I'm not mistaken, and resize the partitions there. But I'm not sure I said to ask.

  • thank you adrian for making a tutorial about ubuntu 11.04 it's really useful and it's easier to use than 10.10.
I would like to ask you how you did in Windows 7 bottom button bar as blind, internet explorer and what was to put it up like ubuntu
miai be helpful if I get an answer

  • Good tutorial. Congratulations. But it seems that the new version of ubuntu has a small bug in the video drivers for nvidia at least. After installation, it says that it is activated but not used: something like "activated but currently not in use".

I would also proposes an interesting Linux distribution and user-friendly. it's linux distribution Pardus Turkish interesting but I'm pretty good.
