Installing the Android smartphone operating system on your computer or virtual 1.6 - video tutorial

Hi friends, today's tutorial I will show how we can play with the Android operating system for mobile platforms, especially smartphones, can install Android on our own PC without the need of a phone that supports Android.
What is Android?
It is a Linux-based operating system developed by the folks at Google, optimized for touch screens and touch and comes installed on many mobile devices, especially smartphones. I think everyone has heard of Nexus One from Google, huh?
All we need to enjoy this operating system on our PC is an ISO image and a virtualization software like: VirtualBox or VMWare. We are able to run the system in live mode or install it.
There 3 version of Android currently, and have little strange names, or if you want delicious.
1.5 Android version is called Cupcake (muffin)
Android version is called 1.6 Donuts (Donut)
2.1 version is called Android Eclair (eclair)
New tutorial today we exemplified middle version running Android 1.6 Donuts.
So those of you who want to buy a smartphone and you are still in doubt or do not know what to choose between an iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian or Android, you can with this ISO image to test the functionality of Android's practice, his know the limits, to see if it fits your needs, or why has this system technologies and functions. Remember to keep in mind that it is not the latest version of Android and the Eclair version 2.1 performance is much improved and changed design.
If you do not know how to configure a new system for my colleague Cristi VirtualBox made several tutorials on installing and setting VirtualBox and how to configure it to install a new operating system. You can find tutorials writing up in the search box on the right: VirtualBox.

Remember, if you have suggestions, complaints or additions do not hesitate to write in the comments box, de-also if you met the comments box a user has a problem and you can help him, do not hesitate to do it, the only way we can do this place better, see the comments box!
Enjoy !
Website that you can download the ISO image Android 1.6

  • A very good tutorial, actually stay on the iphone, but I think soon I'll get an android.

  • Hi Adrian and congratulations for tutorial, for addressing this topic.
can currently videotutorial.ro loyal visitors are not too attracted to the subject but in the future I am sure that many will turn their attention to Android for that as you said, is a more flexible, open source, and that of course It is perfect!
I own a whisk. Android and its use usirinta are fascinated by how easy it is to install applications on it especially as many are FREE.
Unfortunately, my version of Android is 1.5 and although I have had the device for two weeks, I'm seriously thinking about an update to 2.1, but although I've "searched" quite a bit on the net, I don't really trust any software or procedures on the net ( I'm afraid I won't break the device).
I know it's hard exemplified actual installation on a smartphone screen 3,5 inches but can you do it and why I know that p can be many.
I read that Android 2.1 comes with multitouch interface CEAC is even ok, I did not like something 1.5.
I would also like to know the difference between the videos on youtube (which work) and those on videotutorial.ro, which unfortunately don't work? (I am asked for flash player but Adobe does not have Android compatible version :( sorry ..., it may appear)
What can I say ... I'm glad I chose a mobile device with Android and that you start a series of tutorials about something like that!
    I can't wait for the next ones !!!!!!! :)

  • the tutorial is very successful, I really like it ... but I honestly don't know how many of us have this type of phone .... I'm sure that in the future almost everyone will have ...

  • Glad subiect.Chiar approach was needed expansion nou.Si to something I was thinking to buy a phone with Andriod and quit (barely) to Nokia with Symbian N95. On the PC I already switched to Linux (Jolicloud which is very fast).
    Let's hear from you.

  • Hello! It's a really cool OS, but do not know if they go on NOKIA N70. It's a smartphone. Thank you!

  • i can not install XP on microsoft virtual pc I recommend it to RAM 128 MB and so i leave it but it says it can not start that there is not enough memory
but height as I looked on YouTube and his take on virtual machine and wrote 128 MB OK

That 128 keep them in your real memory. How much of your PC? How much actual RAM you have? If you 512 you can not enjoy the virtual box, that has to continue and the real system RAM.

512 ??? I have 167 of these 167 MB enough to allocate so they can start ??

        • 512?? I 167 of these 167 MB how to assign to poataporni?

LOL buddy you're not clear from what I said? No 512MB the system with real and you can not run virtualbox 167MB talking about?? No way, no way I can run virtualbox regardless of operating system installed on the real or virtual. Minimum RAM 1G you need!
