  • It is known that there is no perfect security solution. That is why I recommend that in addition to using an antivirus with up-to-date updates and a firewall to make a backup of the partition containing the operating system. Free programs that perform such a backup : Paragon Backup and Recovery Free, Macrium Reflect Free Edition, Clonezilla, etc. If you have Seagate hard drive look for Seagate Disk Wizard and if you have Western Digital hard drive look for Acronis True Image WD Edition. This software is free, can only be used with the type of hard disk specified above and based on Acronis True Image.

  • I recommend using LINUX and get rid of all worries (only the backup phase remains standing)

  • Some recommendations. It is much easier to prevent:
-Set the explorer to always show the extensions of each file.
-Set the explorer to show the hidden files.
-Don't download from Dc ++ files like "Nicolae Guta - I loved you.mp3.exe", avi.exe, jpg.exe etc. (here I think the extensions bat, scr, com also come in)
-Be careful with Fake antiviruses. If you come across certain web pages that claim to scan your computer in 2 minutes, I find I don't know what viruses and I suggest you download and install something; it doesn't mean you have to swallow a donut and believe. If you can't close the browser because certain scripts on that page don't allow it, it's okay, close the browser in the Task manager.
-Use sysinternals process explorer instead of task manager in windows, it is much more intuitive and better. Periodically check what processes are running and what is their path / location. (see also to which ips the respective processes are connected. Search on google for information about those ipis. Are they well seen or badly seen?
-If you want to download free programs, always go to the manufacturer's page, not elsewhere.
-If you download programs from torrents (non-free), check the age of the torrent, check if it has many seeders and if there are favorable comments for that torrent.
-Use the extension WOT (web of trust in firefox), you will always know how well rated the sites you frequent are.
-It would be good to use a firewall in addition to antivirus.
-If you download certain fake movies from torrents, which I suggest you install, I don't know what codecs to play that movie, you don't have to fall into the trap. Be especially careful with movies with the WMV extension.
-Do not install or run dubious programs
-If you download DVD movie images from torrents or DC ++, do not rush to simply mount them with daemon tools, 120% alcohol, etc. It is not known what autorun applications contain. First control the images with utilities such as: magic iso, power iso, winrar, etc. Be careful that there is no "Autorun.inf" file associated with an .exe.
    -Use backup programs.
    -Use virtualization programs.
-For viruses that are transmitted through sticks you can also use "autorun eater".
Usually on an infected stick there are 2 files: the virus and a file called autorun.inf. When an infected stick is inserted into the computer, XP sees the autorun.inf file (it is hidden), and through it blindly executes the virus that is on the stick (it can be visible or hidden).
This "autorun eater" does not actually delete the virus, but rather blocks that autorun.inf file, and the virus is no longer executed automatically.
It seems to me that in windows vista and windows 7, the autorun.inf file is not run automatically, but a window appears asking if you agree to run the executable on the stick or want to display the contents of the stick in explorer.

The list could go on ...

You can also use linux because it is much better in terms of security (at least for now :)). But unfortunately it has disadvantages from many other points of view ... and it remains to be seen if it is really worth the effort.

  • The most significant free devirus utilization utilities (as a first intervention) (only manual scanning - they do not have real-time scanning and thus do not consume resources):
    - Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware
    - Dr.WEB CureIt!
    - Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool
    - SUPERAntiSpyware
    - Panda USB Vaccine 1.0.1.4
In most cases, these utilities help you get rid of infections.

  • How to use Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool:
    - is saved on the desktop
    - is installing
    - nothing is set but left with the default settings
    - remove the Internet cable
    - the real-time protection (shield) of the antivirus installed on the PC stops
    - it is scanned full with this utility
    - at the end of the scan, all the detected files are disinfected / deleted
    - PC restart, antivirus protection is activated, internet cable is connected.

  • How to use Panda USB Vaccine:
    - is saved on the desktop
    - press after running the program: Vaccinate Computer and then Vaccinate USB
    - if you have several sticks / cards / MP3 Players, repeat the vaccination operation for each one

    • How to use Panda USB Vaccine:
      - is saved on the desktop
      - press after running the program: Vaccinate Computer and then Vaccinate USB
      - if you have several sticks / cards / MP3 Players, repeat the vaccination operation for each one

I used panda usb vaccines at vista and 7 but I always had the same prb that I got an error message that you can't create icom panda usb :( and automatically I didn't even have it in the tray ... as such I used another software for usb security, namely MXOANE which at first sight seemed more ok to me and doesn't even kill my autorun_ plus I have the option to update :)) I recommend it one :)

  • Usage Dr.Web CureIt !:
    - is saved on the desktop
    - it is not installed but it is simply run with a click on its icon (it is only an executable)
    - remove the Internet cable
    - the real-time protection (shield) of the antivirus installed on the PC stops
    - it is scanned full with this utility
    - initially, when running, Dr.Web CureIt! an Express Scan begins. Press the Stop button on the right when it is green. Then check the Complete Scan on the left and so on the right on the green Play button.
    - at the end of the scan, all the detected files are disinfected / deleted
    - PC restart, antivirus protection is activated, internet cable is connected.

  • Usage Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware:
    - is saved on the desktop
    - is installing
    - at the end of the installation, check the following: Update Malwarebytes 'Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Then press Finish
    - after launching the program, click on the Update tab and click the Check for Updates button to check if the downloaded definitions are the last
    - click on the Scanner tab, select Perform full scan and then click on Scan
    - at the end of the scan press OK and then Show Results
    - everything must be checked from the detection list and then click Remove Selected
    - at the end a file will open in Notepad with the scan results where you can see what this utility did
    - everything that is deleted will be found in Quarantine

  • How to use SUPERAntiSpyware:
    - is saved on the desktop
    - is installing
    - left with default settings
    - Full Scan is given, checking all the partitions beforehand
    - after finishing the scan a report with detections appears - all will be selected and Remove will be given
    - everything that is deleted will be found in Quarantine

  • Of course there are other utilities / programs that are good for occasional scans and / or disinfection, but the ones presented in previous posts are the most common and in many cases get rid of problems.
The list of course remains open.
    Good luck!
