How to install Windows on the network with WinPE - video tutorial

Hi friends, today's tutorial to see how install a Windows network. As I promised in Episode 1 si Episode 2 dedicated to this topic, we install Windows networked environment using a bootable winpe_x86.iso created in the first episode of this series.
To install Windows network must fulfill several conditions:
- to have a bootable CD or USB stick with the image winpe_x86.iso created in episode 1
- to own two or more computers
- to own a router or a crossover cable plugged
- to have an ISO image or a CD with the Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system.
If you fulfill all these conditions, we will go on doing so:
- One of the PCs must be the source. On it we will have to unzip the ISO image with the operating system or copy the contents of a Windows CD. We go to the root of partition C and create a folder (call it whatever you want, in my case "Win7Custom"). In the created folder we copy all the files extracted from the ISO image or copied from the Windows CD. Next we will have to share in the network the folder at the root of partition C (Win7Custom in my case) and I set a password on your user account, After work, password can be deleted
- Now that we have prepared everything, the source PC and the PC on which we plan to install Windows will have to be on the same network. This requires both PCs to be connected to the same router or to be connected to each other via a crossover cable.
- We insert the bootable CD or USB stick with the image winpe_x86.iso created in episode 1 in the second PC (on which we plan to install Windows), we make sure that in BIOS have set the PC to boot from CD or stick, Dam restart your PC and boot from CD or bootable stick with winpe_x86.iso
- In the CMD console that will greet us we will have to give a few commands, after each command press the enter key:
* Ping-uluiSursa NumelePC
In my case "VIDEOTUTORIAL ping". The name of the source PC can be found by right-clicking on My Computer, we choose from the context menu Properties, we click on Advanced system settings, we go to the Computer Name tab and at Full computer name we will have written the name of the PC. It must be written in block letters (capital letters) in the order. The "ping" command will help us check if the source PC is responding and everything is fine.
* Net use Z: \\ NumelePc-uluiSursa \ NumeleFolderuluiShare-watching
In my case "net use Z: \\ VIDEOTUTORIAL \ Win7Custom". This command will allow us to "anchor" (map network drive / folder) the shared folder from the source PC to the PC on which we plan to install Windows to access through the network the files needed to install the operating system. After this command we will have to log in by entering the following command to have access to the share-uit folder in the source PC:
* NumelePC-uluiSursa (written mjuscule) \ NumeleDeUtilizator
For example, in my case "VIDEOTUTORIAL \ AdrianGudus"
Now we will have to enter the password of the user account, enter it carefully even if it is not displayed while typing it and press the Enter key. If everything is fine, it means that we managed to "anchor" the shared folder on the network of the source PC and we successfully logged in.
We will have to go through the last two commands as follows:
* Z:
This command will allow us to enter the "anchored" folder through the command line through the steps above
* setup.exe
Will it run the setup wizard will open to install the operating system. From here it is a typical installation of Windows, just like when you install a Windows bootand from a CD / DVD.
That said, I invite you to watch the video tutorial to see exactly what steps to install Windows network.

  • Thank you for tutorial.O excellent method of installing the operating system in retea.Se justify when Win's image is very high when the PC's optical drive reads 2 just one type of optical medium, or when we have a small stick that just fits the picture boot.Pe early days I ate a very old laptop, had no optical drive and no boot on stick.Nu knew we managed to install the network, but by less than I put the Orthodox Win and works in azi.Interesant day as a tutorial on the topic installing network using Remote installation Service.Toata appreciation for their work in making this series of tutorials (and not only).

  • It would be nice if you make some tutorials and on development boards such as Arduino. It would be so cool !!!

  • Hi Adrian! I experienced the version from episode 2 of this miniseries, it went well. Let me make a clarification, namely that we can install (apply) that install.wim, directly, without integrating it into an iso image. Very simple, we give the command "imagex / apply C: \ then the location of the image wim and ready. After application it remains to create the boot sector with bcdedit tool, or with third party software (TestDisk). And it works faster than an installation. simple for those who already have an operating system installed and want to do a dual boot, simply apply that wim image directly from the operating system.Tested in dual boot, Windows 8 with 7.

  • 1. "... we will have to CREATE a password for the user account ...". "To create" is written and read with two "e", only in the person INATAI, SINGULAR: "I create"!

    2. The "source PC" - ALWAYS - is called the "host PC" or "host PC", and the PC on which the operating system is installed, using the first PC, is called the "client PC". This is in order to stop "running" and, respectively, name in a thousand ways, those computers.

    3. The ping is done to QUESTION the respective PC, and not to "touch" it ... to check that it is "FREQUENT", "QUESTABLE", if you want! Sorry, we're trying to stop your stuttering in the tutorial .;)

    4. "PC Mapping" translates to: "ATTACHMENT / ATTACHMENT" from one PC / folder to another PC!

    5. "Execute" reads "execute", not "execute"!

  • I understood nothing. if you have to use the winpe image on pc 2 (client pc) why not put the windows directly on the stick or on the dvd and install windows. why should I put it on the network if I have usb or dvd-rom on pc2. that I have to install the winpe image so that I can install it from the network. it's too complicated what you say for nothing. so pc2 should only have the network card and be able to install windows from the network on another pc. so if it has usb or dvd-rom I can without installation from the network. I will look for an installation guide only and exclusively from the network without other CDs and sticks that I am supposed to have no way to use.

    5. "Execute" read "egzecuta" not "ecsecuta"!

    1. "cream" is written "cream" and not "creem" (http://diacritica.wordpress.com/2010/03/09/creem-vs-cream/)
    2. We know the technical terms but our tutorials are also addressed to non-technical people who do not know the notion of "pc host" or "ping", "map network drive". When you are a technical person and used to the terms, it is difficult for you to make an analogy for simple people and hence the "stutter"
    We have not established to train experts but regular people who may have bought PC 4 days ago.

    I understood nothing. if you have used the WinPE image 2 PC (PC client) why I would put the windows directly on the stick or DVD and install windows. why ask me to put it on the network if I am usb dvd-rom or on pc2. WinPE image gotta ask you can install the network. it's too complicated for nimic.deci pc2 about you should have only network card and can install Windows network from another PC. so if you have USB or DVD drive can without installation network. am I going to install a guide only and exclusively on the network without any CDs and sticks that supposedly I would have like to use them.

    Although I also explained in the tutorial in which cases such an installation is useful, I recommend you read the first comment given by Adrian Sailor, maybe that's how you understand better ...
    With a router and multiple PCs connected to it, you can install Windows simultaneously on multiple PCs by the method outlined in the tutorial.
    It is much simpler and you lose if you stay a long time to do each one PC CD / DVD bootable stick with Windows or bootable one for each PC

    Express Burn CD 2.2 FARA FARA USB

    ... Yes you are right ... and easyBCD has the function of WinPE but the method shown by Adrian in the 3 tutorials is more correct ...
