Video autofocus on DSLRs is still not what it should be and I don't think it will ever be, especially with fast lenses where the focus range is extremely small. Sony has managed to implement the most efficient video focus on DSLR with the help of SLT (single-lens translucent mirror) technology, on A33, A55, A57, A65, A77 cameras, however not even "Phase Detection Focus" on these SLT Sony fails to do the right thing.

For video will not recommend any DSLR because it is harder to film in hand with it, simply is a video camera and the end result will please, while the DSLR you get mostly video files subject is a field out of focus. D3200 has 24mp and D5100 has 16mp, yet has the best D5100 APC-C sensor on the market and this helps more than 24mp.

The thing about megapixels is a marketing strategy, if you are over 8mp is enough for most people.
I'm not saying Nikon D3200 not a good device, unfortunately not better than D5100 image quality. What I like about Nikon D3200 is faptil you can adjust the shutter speed and ISO even while shooting in M mode

Sal and I just doing a market study to see what I could buy (a DSLR for video 90%) and we concluded that a Canon EOS 600D would be the best, having the external microphone input USES. But recently I saw a comparison on YT, according to which it would be better a FUJIFILM XS1 that no DSLR, but has some advantages. Nowadays when it comes to DSLRs rule says this: Nikon and Canon video camera, yet I was stubborn to use a Nikon video that has a sensor for excellent and superior to video codec Canon used 550D, 600D and 60D, by the way, if you want the video to know that 60D 600D do about the same thing and remove yourself cheaper.
Fujifilm XS1 is an excellent bridge camera but can not compete with ecosistenele (body, lenses, accessories) offered by Nikon and Canon. For an amateur who wants to develop his passion Fujiflm is ok for those who want to do more than just still pictures all DSLR basis.
