D-Link DIR 655 router configuration for Romtelecom, RDS, UPC, internet starter, 3G - video tutorial

Hi friends, in this tutorial I will present a router from D-Link, it is the model DIR 655, will present everything you can present to a router, even if you have no router from D-Link, you will surely learn many useful things.
The menus for this router resembles drop all routers from D-Link made lately of course probably will stuff more or less but the location and main functions are the same.
D-Link DIR 655 is a router that knows how to do more, you'll be surprised how many useful features this device has: QOS Engine technology that knows how to give priority to certain applications to others eg vs browser. download manager, Wireless N (300 Mbps) Gigabit ports, USB multifunction that we can be a modem stuffing 3G be a storage device (USB stick, external hard) Guest Zone is a second wireless network that a router can create interesting features besides the router D-Link DIR 655 has an enviable stability and long-range coverage, plus it does not require the type of router never reset basically is anti bullet.
I will show almost all functions of the router, I am sure that in the end you will appreciate this router.
Usually people think of a router as a common object, the router is no longer a simple "divider" of the net, a router is like a computer, has its own processor, RAM, flash, operating system ( firmware), if we use a router with a head we will see that we can get some results that we previously expected only from software.
A router can be used: to automatically limit the time spent by someone on the net, to limit access to some Web addresses, manage bandwidth allocated to certain applications, etc. etc.
The router can connect multiple IP cameras, so we can do our own video surveillance system.
A good router used effectively can improve our life, plus a good router knows how to work with all types of connections, settings below have major types of connections.

Set router for Romtelecom:
Choose "Dynamic IP" from the drop down and save.

Set for RDS:
Choose from drop down PPPoE (username / password), check Dynamic IP, enter user and password, in "Reconect Mode" check "Always on", fill in MTU 1492 and save.

Set router for net neighborhood (MAC Authentication):
Choose from the drop down "Static IP", enter ip, dns, subnet etc and then clone the MAC by clicking on "Clone Your pc MAC Address".

Set router for connections that are made through Internet application Starter:
Like the mac romtelecon + cloning, in addition, the application must be turned Starter Internet.
Good luck with that!
TRENDnet router if you can follow this tutorial TRENDnet router port forwarding on

  • Interesting tutorial but I don't know if other tutorials like this would be useful, not that they wouldn't be welcome, maybe for some of us but not many because we don't all have money for routers ... Or how good the tutorial was! Good luck in the future!

  • Cristi, I have a request for you, what phone should I take and what do you say about the LG Optimus One P500? It's good that I don't have enough money for htc, how do you know that I wanted to take htc I want something more than quality but with android, and something else I saw that on some phones it says A-GPS which means but simple GPS I know it means gps but I don't know how to take them have integrated not integrated with A-GPS clear me and me. What phone do you now have htc of which? And please tell me if the LG Optimus One P500 is good? Wait for response :). Good day Cristi :)

  • Super tutorial, I dropped a shame we had Dlink in 635 6 months twice problems connecting to the internet, simply no longer connect to net.Noroc as it was under warranty and I changed Trendnet 634GRU.

  • If it's not annoying - and it shouldn't be - I'll bring a few additions:
-if (modem) -you have the Romtelecom router set to "Bridge", then
    follow the set-arils as those for RDS;
-If you have Internet UPC, then just choose Dynamic IP and
introduces cloning, network card MAC computer with
you have registered the UPC network.

Why did you set the CLicknet router (modem) to "Bridge" mode? For the simple reason that you will not have to open ports (operation known as Port Forwading) both in the (modem) router from Romtelecom, and in your router, purchased by you. By putting the (modem) Rometelcom router in "Bridge", you will open ports only in your router, which will greatly facilitate any other subsequent sets for your LAN.
The sequence of the second router - like the current one - followed by the one from Romtelecom is called "cascade". Basically an insertion of the two devices, one after the other, but not an insertion as some might think, what is done in an electrical circuit, but only a chain, of one device after another.
ATTENTION: those who have a router (wireless, as newer, the new Clicknet subscriptions are available) with 4 LAN ports, ie with a router that can also connect the Internet to 4 computers, on Ethernet cable (without taking into I calculate a switch!), they don't need a second router (wireless or not!), because the one received from Romtelecom can do the same things as the second router used in this tutorial! The second router is for use only by those who have a modem-router with a single Ethernet port and who will "cascade" it with the wireless router purchased by you.

    • Xantes: If not with anger - and it would be - make some notes:
      -If (modem) Router software from Romtelecom you have set-at the "Bridge" atunciurmati set-arils as those for RDS;
-If you have Internet UPC, then just choose Dynamic IP and seintroduce for cloning MAC computer's network card you registered with some network UPC.De you have set the (modem) router the Clicknet in "Bridge"? For the simple reason that it will not need to open ports (known as Port operaratiune Forwading) both (modem) router from Romtelecom and in your router, purchased by you. Putting (modem) router Rometelcom in "Bridge" will only open ports in your router, which will greatly facilitate any subsequent set-ari to your LAN network.
Stringing of the second router - as at present - followed by the Romtelecom is called "cascading". Basically a inserirere the two traversing one after another, but a series marking as some might think that the one that is done in an electrical circuit, but a chain of a device after the other.
WARNING: those who have a router (wireless, as newer, new subscriptions Clicknet it provides) with 4 LAN ports, ie a router that can give Internet 4 computers, wire Ethernet (without taking into calculating a switch!), do not need a second router (wireless or not!), as the one received from Romtelecom can do the same things and the second router used in this tutorial! The second router is only for those who use a router modem cun one Ethernet port and that it will "cascade" of the wireless router you purchased.

Why upset me even more vivid please with completions.

  • Speaking of "third party firmware" ... this wireless router does NOT SUPPORT firmware from DD-WRT !!! DO NOT try, you will run out of router!

    • Xantes: Speaking of "third party firmware" ... this wireless router does not support firmware from DD-WRT !!! Do not try, you will remain without router!

Yes, it is, I said it in tutorial, this router processor still does not support custom firmwares, maybe the future will do something about it.

  • I would also come with an addition for those who - as in the case of this router - has the class of IPs assigned by the form: "192.168.0.1", to change it to the form, either: "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.2.1". Why and when is this IP class change useful?
If you have - for various reasons, I am not developing the idea now - you want to share an Internet connection - from another computer, through the wired network card and the built-in wireless, as long as the router has assigned the IP class of "192.168.0.1", the wireless network card of the computer that shares an Internet connection, will also assign IPs of the same class: "192.168.0.1" and you will have a IP conflict!
For this you need to change the IP class of the router, as described above and so the network card of the computer that shares the Internet connection will be able to assign IPs of class "192.168.0.1" to others computers that will take over the Internet connection on their wireless card.

    • Xantes: I come with a complement for those who - as with router girl - has class IPs allocated as: "192.168.0.1" to change shape, either: "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.2.1" . Why and when is it useful to change the class IPs?
If you - for various reasons, are not developing their idea - you want to share look an Internet connection - from another computer via the network card wired and wireless embedded as long as the router your class has allocated IPs "192.168.0.1" wireless network card to the computer that shares uieste Internet connection, and it will assign IPs in the same class, "192.168.0.1" and you have a conflict of IP- hate!
For this need to change class IP router, as described above and thus the network card of the computer that shares uieste Internet connection will be able to assign IPs class "192.168.0.1" and other computers will take over the Internet connection, wireless on their plate.

Ok, I'm changing the IP class of the router, but you didn't specify anything about changing the "range" (range) of IPs that the router needs to allocate. In vain I changed the IP class of the router if I didn't change the "range" (range) of IPs that the router has to allocate. Then if I have a router why bother with share networks, the cost difference between a simple router and a wireless one it's not that big, there's no point in complicating myself with shared wireless networks.

  • Very good this tutoriel.
I posted to you my problem, I hope you don't mind me coming back with the same problem but I can't find a solution. I have a router from romtelecom model (Huawei hg 655b) on windows I have no problems loading pages or torrent download works very well. The problem is on linux (ubuntu 10.10) it loads my pages hard although I click net power 30 mg / s VDSL and I didn't download torrents with the default transmission utility ami it works with 30-70 kb / s what a weak effect. what settings would you make to work well on ubuntu ?? someone told me to make it connect automatically .... how to do something ?? no one has the same prbm as me? ?Thank you.
