Securing, creating and modifying user accounts in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 - video tutorial

Hi friends, in today's tutorial you'll learn together about security in windows, how to create an administrator account or a limited account and how you can modify or delete. Most people use Windows. Always a major problem for these operating systems was security. WinXP installation still gives us full rights to files and directories, we give administrator rights and can basically do everything that we want in our operating system. Where I'm going? In short we have too much freedom as a user on the Windows operating system, this is not good, if you can install software means that we can make infected files, this could be changed if we choose to use a guest account (guest) with or limited rights user account other than the Administrator. Why would we do that?
I've seen many people who are too comfortable to enter the password when they turn on their PC or the first thing they do after installing a system like windows 7 or vista is to disable UAC (User Account Control) without even realizing that in fact, all these "obstacles" are only for their own good and the safety of the computer they use. If each of us used the Guest account or a user account with limited rights we would be much safer and in case of an infection with a virus it would not have full write and execution rights and the damages would be much smaller. or even non-existent!
Use a guest account or a user with limited rights as the primary solution to securing your operating system, you should first measure to be taken before installing an antivirus or firewall. About windows system security would be much to say but I invite you to follow along this tutorial video where I explain in more detail how manage user accounts, how to create and delete accounts, how can we change, how we can promote a user or how can we put or delete a user password. That being said I invite you to watch the tutorial!
Remember, if you have suggestions, complaints or additions do not hesitate to write in the comments box, de-also if you met the comments box a user has a problem and you can help him, do not hesitate to do it, the only way we can do this place better, see the comments box!
Enjoy !
IMPORTANT UPDATE 10.06.2010 00 time: 53
On Windows 7 if you have UAC (User Account Control) set by default and you have not deactivated it, when creating a new user, when you log in and you want to install new applications you will have to enter the Administrator password and not the user . For the password notification to appear, if you are logged in to a user account, you will need to have the password on the Administrator account. In the demonstration in the tutorial, he did not ask me for the password when I wanted to install applications from the user account because I had UAC disabled on the administrator account. After finishing the tutorial I didn't have any peace until I discovered why I can't install applications from the user account on Windows 7, although I tried to install them and right-click on the executable and chose "Run as Administrator".

  • That means security, above all antivirus software, antispyware, firewall, clear rules need to do to access it is good to use every day an account with restricted rights, so we keep many misfortunes.
When you want to install anything, you just need to put your administrator password.
By doing this, not one more capable to install all kinds of miracles without your knowledge.
Always simple measures are most effective.

  • and yet it is possible ... I created a new account (with limited rights), I activated the administrator account (root from linux) and I put the password. then I logged into the restricted account, entered the command line (cmd) and used the program "runas" (c: \ windows \ system32 \ runas) as follows: "runas / user: Administrator ccsetup232.exe", I entered the password and the installation went to completion. I assume that another account can be used that has administrator rights, but must have a password set.

activating the administrator account in Windows supreme 7:
The "Control Panel \ System and Security \ Administrative Tools" from there starts the Loca Security Policy application. the Local Policies / Security Option category is chosen and the Accounts: Administrator account status setting is changed to Enabled.

if I'm wrong, please correct me! : D

    • and totushi can ... I created a new account (with limited rights), I enabled the administrator account (root in linux) and I put the password. I suppose it can to use and another account that has administrator rights, but must have a password to the Administrator account setata.activarea ultimate in windows 7:
"Control Panel \ System and Security \ Administrative Tools" there are local application starts Security Policy. choose the category Local Policies / Security Option and setting Accounts: Administrator account status is passed on Enabled.daca something wrong, please, correct me!

Read the text above tutorial! I wrote an update to the article, I was not allowed to install anything on 7 practically do not occur notification window that asked the administrator password to install the software for the account of the Administrator had UAC off. If I would have stopped and I would be Lasar Default as set comes 7 you install windows in time when I tried to install a software in my user account as a pop-up that had I enter the administrator password. Again, do not leave me nor run as administrator for the administrator account was off the UAC

what I did, it works with UAC on and UAC off. when I tested my version I also had UAC turned off and it didn't ask for my password when I gave "Run as Administrator". so, it does not seem to me that it would contradict your update made to the article, it is just a possible completion, another way to do about the same thing .;)

        • what I did, works with UAC turned on and turned off UAC. When I tested my version and I had UAC turned off and I do not ask for the password when you gave "Run as Administrator". So I do not find that it conflicts with your updates made to the article, it's just an addition possibly another way to do about the same thing. ;)

there is no way if you are not logged in to the administrator to install your credema software on win 7 and vista does not ask for your password if you are not an administrator I tested with UAC on and with it off who knows what win bullet you took which is broken in the mouth of everything and has security holes and others or who knows those taken out of it

          • You do if you're not logged in administrator to your soft instlezi Believe on Win Vista 7 and asks administrator password if Esit I've tested it with UAC turned on and off who stiece balariede win you got that is broken in the mouth everything and has security holes and out the other, or who know of it

I guess you didn't read carefully or you didn't read everything ... don't comment more

          • I guess you did not read or did not read carefully all ... no more comment

yes my apologies I read above
app if you log in as a guest and you have rds or cliknet or what you are asked to create a connection more bn said has user and password on the guest you can not create (and is not created as in the case of the standard account) and on another account not entitled administrator is created from the administrator account only log in to the net you are not asked for the administrator password from the supreme account

  • I have a question: on vista if you have for example one 2 accounts with admin rights and the other rights standard, the standard account can install software, even if you have password on it, and if you change the path where the program goes in another partition than with Windows, it instalaleaza the program?

  • Cam Worse, there's a better than a bakup dizziness that? And with partitions as you do and stay bn (see mostly but not be able to access it)! And please make a tutorial and I mmult about Norton and BitDefenter!

  • very good tutorial I like system tutorials that help you have a stable system and I think that's what everyone wants. and each time you do exactly the right thing. I would like to ask you something, I looked at the virtual box tutorial where he threw CRISTI from the ubuntu live cd and at the end he says that there would be virtual machines that would increase the performance of the games, you wouldn't want to do a tutorial about that as many would wants + performance. thanks .

  • Very correct, but after we "hit" our heads with all kinds of errors, now it's very simple and then it was but we didn't know about it. Because you teach us and guide us on the best path.

  • Calin and Cronox, I repeat you will be asked for the password when you install a software from the user account if you have put the password on the Administrator account and UAC activated. Activated by default, ie the slider from UAC to be on the 2nd line starting to count from top to bottom, if you look to the right in the description it will even write "Default- Bla bla bla". So you must have the password on Admin and UAC activated to ask for your password by a simple double click (not with a right click and run as administrator) when installing a software.

    • Calin and Cronox, again you will be asked for the password when installing software on a user account if the Administrator account password and you put UAC enabled. Enabled by default ie the UAC slider to be at the starting line 2 to count up and down, if I look right in describing it and even says "Default-Bla bla bla". So you really need to have UAC enabled and Admin password to request your password by simply double-click (not right-click and run as administrator) to install a software.

Yes, I understand that. but I wasn't talking about what clicks. we were talking about the "runas" command from the command line.

yes I forgot to mention when it's active UAC prompted my mistake
