What is this video tutorial Clear extra boot entries about?
In the Delete Extra Boot Entries tutorial, I show you how to delete an invalid or unwanted boot sector entry.
More precisely, this is the case when we turn on the PC and instead of starting Windows, we are shown a screen on a blue background, or black on older Windows. Several windows appear in that window.
Why do these boot sector entries appear?
Most of the time, these extra entries are the result of failed installations on other drives.
For example, I want to install Windows and start the installation normally, choose the disk and continue the installation.
At that moment Windows- if it feels that there is another disk on the PC, on which there is a boot sector, it will want to install that one.
That is, we will have Windows on a new disk but which is linked to the boot sector of another disk.
That's why whenever you install, I've advised that it's best to just have the drive you're going to install Windows on mounted on your PC
Sometimes, quite rarely, some errors simply happened from some failed updates, but that happened very, very rarely.
How do we delete invalid or unwanted boot sector entries?
It is very simple:
- Type in the start menu msconfig.exe and press enter
- In the boot tab, select the valid and preferred operating system
- Press the "set as default" button below
- After that select the invalid entry and press Delete
Careful
Do all the work carefully, because this operation, once done, cannot be undone.
