Uninstall root-based system applications

What is uninstalling root-based system applications?

System apps are those apps that come preinstalled with your phone and can not be uninstalled so easily. Uninstalling root-based system applications is required because root is in violation of the warranty terms, so if you root your phone, you may have warranty issues if the phone fails.

Why do we need to uninstall root-based system applications on Android

First of all, you obviously need the phone, after which:

  1. Data cable
  2. A PC, desktop or laptop
  3. USB Drivers for Your Phone (see below)
  4. Platform Tools (see below)

  5. In the PowerShell or CMD window give the command “adb devices"
  6. If the number and device do not appear, it means that you have not installed the USB driver correctly, as well as if the device number appears next to “unknown” instead of “device”

  • I have a Samsung J7 (2017) without root. I uninstalled several applications (Samsung mail, Drive, Office Suite, Facebook, Photo, Game Launcher, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, One Drive, Samsung Health, Samsung Members, Skype, Youtube) that came preinstalled. I restarted the phone and it stuck to the Samsung logo. He just didn't want to start again. I tried to restore it from the factory (from buttons) and nothing, it was stuck to the logo. Eventually I had to reinstall (flash) the system. I believe that uninstalling these bloatware will irreparably corrupt system files. Now I wonder if it is only valid for Samsung J7 or does it affect other brands as well?

  • I also have a question, after this operation can make UP to android? is the guarantee on the phone? Thank you

  • @Cristi after following all the steps and recognizing the phone in the power shell, when adding the command "pm uninstall -k -user 0" followed by the correct name of the application I want to uninstall my phone does not uninstall it and also restarts and after opening a message appears to me that I have to install the file explorer application, they have samsung smart swich to be able to access the files. Where can the problem come from? I am waiting for an answer, thank you very much.

  • Hello,
I'm not hater, I have all the respect for your work but the title of this clip is a little click-through.
Those applications that you say are uninstalled are actually disabled.
If you could easily uninstall a root-based system application, then it would be a serious security issue. Uninstalling user-installed applications or updates to installed system applications from Google Play can be uninstalled. If a factory reset is made, all those applications appear and because they were never really uninstalled, but only disabled.
It is true that the effect for the user is about the same, but it is better to be properly informed.
There are Google apps that can disable everything you want, usually made for each brand. For Samsung there is Package Disabler Pro + (Samsung).

  • Hello if you have OnePlus 3 with Oxygen OS Oreo and you want a Nook ROM (for example Lineage OS 14.1) you should install the Nugget firmware first and then take your ROM or you can install it as a ROM normal (Flash in TWRP)?
And if you install the ROM directly that would be the worst thing that could happen?

    • understand, that they are not deactivated, as long as you use the same rum when you reset it, all your data will be reset as you took it out of the box, so of course they will be reinstalled

  • EMP83 you are misinformed, the command mentioned by my colleague does not deactivate the application but permanently deletes it from the system and the "-k" option makes the "cache" and "data" folder for the deleted application remain. Read the ADB documentation.
