How to listen to radio stations in Ubuntu Linux - video tutorial

Hi friends, in today's tutorial I will show you 3 ways to listen to radio stations in Ubuntu Linux. Although there are many softwares or methods to listen to radio stations, I have chosen to present you only 3 easy methods. In order to listen to radio stations on Ubuntu you will need to have the gstreamer codecs installed. About the installation of gstreamer codecs and other codecs needed to be able to watch movies in Ubuntu, or to be able to play DVDs was discussed in "How to install codecs on Ubuntu Linux”Which I invite you to watch and then after installing the codecs, watch this tutorial. The methods are not difficult at all but the easiest, most interesting and handy is the third method. It is a very small software that I will not name here but I will let you watch the video tutorial. This software does not have a player interface but sits neatly in the top panel, next to the clock. When I say player interface I mean that you will not have a pause button, play, forward, backward as in a classic player interface. Everything will be controlled with the mouse from the 2 menus that will be displayed on the left click or on the right click on the application icon. Another utility of this software is that we can control its volume by simply rotating the mouse wheel (mouse well). Turning up we give louder, turning down we give the sound of the radio station slower. That being said, I leave you to watch the tutorial and at the same time find out the name of the application that I find very useful and interesting!
Remember, if you have suggestions, complaints or additions do not hesitate to write in the comments box, de-also if you met the comments box a user has a problem and you can help him, do not hesitate to do it, the only way we can do this place better, see the comments box!
Enjoy !

Mom, I struggled with rytmbox to add a radio station… and I didn't even succeed… now that I've seen the tutorial ... my heart is back ... without you I was dead..I admit I'm a beginner .on linux .. it will take me some time until I get used to it… but it is definitely more beautiful..and better than windows… very good tutorial… and i expect as much as possible about linux ux.

  4. I use VLC… I can double-click on the .pls file and I don't need to copy the link anymore.

You can find out for yourself whether your motherboard supports this type of processor or not. All you have to do is go to the gigabyte site… type in google: Gigabyte, enter and access the first page of the google search engine. You are looking for the model of your motherboard and you will have a button called CPU Support, click on it and it will tell you which processors you can put on your motherboard. click HERE and if the processor is not in the list, then it is not supported.

  6. Hello, first of all, I apologize offtopic. I want to let you know that you are copied from a site:. … I posted on the help-pc page …… a message a few minutes ago:

Why copying poor men from videotutorial.ro? Why we 20 tutorials on this subject, words, etc.? If you want you can ask them if you can get into their web stuff! Cheating is not logical and makes no sense! Please fix this! .

I will say a lot, I've learned a lot, although I 11 years and should I worry a little more school, I love your site, for your joyful tutorials and even mistakes are less funny new your visitors.

I cry when I see that someone will copy it, and so I decided to tell you. I've had a website rpci.dap.ro, but now no longer own. If I had found your site before I made the site in Frontpage, I had a neat site.

Do you know how I found out about you? I had a Linux distribution on susestudio.com, but I wasn't going to write the .iso image with Nero. I searched for Mr. Guagal "How to write an iso image" and I found your site. And since then you keep visiting him.

Since my last post on installing applications in Linux tutorial I found much more than using a website to make a Linux system, thanks to you.

So once again remind you somehow try to put your copyright, even if this crisis, at least try.

We say that this tutorial was nice and instructive as any other. I wish you continued success!

  11. To listen to the radio I would recommend Radiotray (I use the mult0's small but very effective program. Could listen to any radio station and occupies very little computer resources. Sucks is that does not have a very friendly interface but if you got the motion is very ok. tutorial Thanks a lot.

I think it's very friendly interface on linux both know that you only get what you need and nothing more, not put them on your neck do not want anything as happens so often with Windows. The future will do tutorials on terminal and you will see that you can listen to the radio and using only terminal. As I said, Radio Tray's interface is very simple and useful, do not have lines of code, you just do the commands you click that mouse to click on the windows, you want more than that?

  12. And by the way, I presented this tutorial Radio Tray is the third method, towards the end of the tutorial!

  13. Hello, I want to try to do a tutorial on a web application called MediaWiki, which can be downloaded here: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download . She goes on XAMPP, but only WampServer. It installs almost like WordPress and phpBB, needs a database, and the strength is that it allows to make your own Wikipedia! I think you're good. I'd like to do a tutorial. I did install and go. [email protected].

  14. Sin can listen to radio from winamp and vlc clone

  15. I have a big request. I am retired and live in a nursing home. I receive the written book library. Because I find it very difficult to keep track of inventory and book loans, please help me to find a program with which I can keep track of inventory, with a small search engine by author or work name and know where there is the book (at reader X or in the library on shelf A, at number…). THANK YOU VERY MUCH !

    Thanks

    • yonutz1995: My salutproblema q does not have legaura tutorial: D but to me raspundetzi ro! Into ubuntu came a soft Intant yahoo messenging kt nearest pidgin.k besides that sucks ...... many

pidgin is very bun.depinde what will you use it. You can try kopette, empathy, gyachi (supports webcam). tried them all and I was in pidgin

    • yonutz1995: My salutproblema q does not have legaura tutorial: D but to me raspundetzi ro! Into ubuntu came a soft Intant yahoo messenging kt nearest pidgin.k besides that sucks ...... many

It seems that people from yahoo have never designed a version of yahoo messenger for linux and I do not think they will in the near future (probably not interested in doing that). So do you have left is the open source alternatives made by third parties. (Pidgin, gyachi, Kopete).

You can transfer files problem solved if you install an ftp server (proftpd gadmin). Remains webcam and audio call.

It looks like they have something gyachi support webcam (not audio) but from what I observed did not work than to receive video from the person talking (sometimes works and sometimes not). I could not send pictures from my camera.

      Kopete I haven't tested it…

command "radiotray" and see that it starts with the system

Good question! You just gave me a tutorial idea for tomorrow. If you still have patience, tomorrow I will do a tutorial on how to put software that does not have the option "start on startup" or "start when ubuntu start" in startup on Ubuntu Linux

  18. Hello.

Interesting tutorial, much more because I learned a little program that I use every day now.
Regarding the group move, when you click on the "Move Group" button the first option is "root". By choosing it, the newly created group appears at the same level as the existing ones.

I have seen have said to the dock after use, to me seems like Docky.

    All the best.
