What is the video tutorial about? How to color black and white pictures?
In the video tutorial How to color black and white pictures I will show you how you can give new life to black and white photos with the help of artificial intelligence. The results are above expectations.
Who doesn't want to give color to old pictures, especially since there are moments full of memories.
I have some black and white photos from my childhood and I decided to give them a new life.
Like any man who took black and white photos, I also have some photos, some better preserved, others more nasty, which I would like to digitize and give them a new life by coloring, with the help of artificial intelligence.
Initially I did not have high hopes for coloring some black and white pictures. However, after trying a few services, I was impressed by the degree of coloration and color accuracy.
Digitizing old photos is fairly simple with PhotoScan
In Google Photos, you can find the PhotoScan application, with which you can scan old photos, which you can later share on social networks.
We even have one PhotoScan tutorial.
You can find the PhotoScan application in Google Photos / Photo Library / Utilities / Scan photos with PhotoScan
Of course, he's not a prefect, but I can say that this AI obscures their colors by about 80%.
Even if the colors that the color photos take are not 100% accurate, I can say that 80% of the AI manages to look at them.
The result is very pleasant, even with 80% accuracy.

My opinion is that it just happened to come out that color on the red tie after recoloring. It could very well not come out red, depending on which online program or application you use. Usually such applications use common coloring patterns, such as vegetation should be green, sky blue, specific skin color… and so on. After all, no program, no matter how advanced, can "restore colors" exactly as they were (at least not by automatic processing). But you don't have to do that either, you have to come up with a more realistic shade, pleasing to the eye, even if we know that those are not the colors.
For example, I bleached some pictures with Gimp and uploaded them to see what came out. The skin tone is ok, the vegetation is ok, the color of the sky and the clouds are ok, but the colors of the shirt on me were clearly not the ones :)). But it's understandable.
I really have some old black and white pictures, when I have time I will try to bring them back to life using this site or others, to see which one pleases me more. Thanks for opening my inspiration 🙂
Hi Cristian
Thanks for an amazing guide on coloring old photos. Hotpot was really good. I tried it using. However I discovered another great tool “https://imagecolorizer.com/”, probably a better one as per my experience in comparing with Hotpot ai. I think you should add it to the list.
Hope this helps. Thank you.
